I just purchased a 7.5 kw Huanyang Inverter VFD cheap off EBay. The manual is terrible but the VFD is running the motor, so at least it works. I have been in contact with the seller but there is a language problem, but he's trying. Sweet home 3d roof free download. He just informed me that the VFD is factory set at 50hz and that I need to reset it to 60hz. I have read few articles on Huanyang VFD. I have come to conclusion that most of the problems with these VFD is either users not able to understand VFD configuration or plugging 380v 3 phase into a single phase 220v. I am planning to buy a Huanyang VFD, but that last comment 'it worked only for 45 days' puts doubts in proceeding with the purchase.

VFD Programing Help
Some time ago I bought a Huanyang, (yes chinese) 2hp, 1.5kw VFD to run the 3phase 1.5 Leeson motor on my South Bend Lathe. I finally got around to installing and wiring it. I finally got it where I can run the lathe, although I don't know how I did it. It now runs one speed and I can reverse it. I do not know how to program anything else. The manual is not clear to me on the sequence to enter information to program the VFD. I would like to set the stopping time, maybe the start up time, but most of all the speed control.
Is anyone here familiar with the Huanyang VFD who could teach me a few things? If I knew the proper sequence and what information should be displayed, maybe I could do it.

The manual may never be much help.
I suggest you post pics of the keypad and terminal blocks. There may be some clues there. - Cast Iron

Hi Danny,
Something useful would be the model number - there'll be a plate / stickum on the side telling you! Even a pictire of the plate would be enough, probably..
A quick google brought up a few manuals for this mfr, but not knowing which one.. The majority of the`parameters are consistent across different manufacturers and models of VFD so you could read another mfr's manual that gives application / config' info', but unless you know how they map to 'PR1', 'PR99' etc. it's impossible to suggest how to program it!
SO - a bit more info required!
MOST IMPORTANT - which model?
How have you wired it to your SB's controls, using the original drum switch hooked to the VFD's control lines? VFD output to drum switch (Bad Idea, allegedly)?
Do you have a multiway switch for the fixed speeds you want to program, a pot for the variable speed control? Are you going to fit a braking resistor for rapid stops (possibly a Bad Idea if you have a heavy screw-on chuck)?
Probably you'll get some really useful info once those who could answer know enough to help - nice folks on here

Thanks guys for trying to assist. I Checked the VFD over inside and out and the only think I can find is the small sticker on the front which reads 220vt. 1.5kw. I see a place on the right side where I suppose is where an identification sticker/plate should be installed. But since this thing was sold by a reseller in Hong Kong, they my have left this off. Maybe without this information and model number it may be a lost cause unless anyone may be able to identify it.
As for the wiring, 220 volt single phase in. Three phase out directly to the 1.5 hp Leeson motor. None of the original South Bend switches are used. For now I was planning to control the VFD functions from the keypad. Once I understand and can use it from the keypad, I have a switch box which I plan to install a pot for the variable speed control, F/R switch and emergency stop push pad. My lathe spindle is D1-4 so no worry about it spinning off.

I have these units installed on my BP clone and 12 inch Baldor grinder. The seller (also Chinese) sent me instructions (although I have now misplaced them!) on a very specific order of default settings to override. If I come across that info I will pass it on. Overall, I am pleased with the performance of these for the price I paid.

Danny, doesn't the manual at least mention the model number?
I took a look at the ones I could find on the 'net, simple enough but they all seemed to have a different programming/operation panel to yours..

Hi Danny:
I'm not familiar with your VFD but I'll give this a go.
If you look at section VII (Commissioning), you'll see a table with 35 parameters. Some can not be changed.
In the section above that, section Vl, there is a table which describes the steps needed to display each parameter in turn.
Note that you have to go through the parameters sequentially so if you want to change PD026 for example, you will have to go through PD000 - PD025 to get there.
As a start, try to get it to display PD000, and verify the value is actually factory default '0'.
As a next step, get it to display the contents of all the other parameters and check them against the factory defaults.
My guess is that 'Enter' will step through the params. 'Prog' jumps back to run mode so you don't have to go beyond the one you want to change.
As far as speed control goes, I think the dot circle on your front panel might be where the speed control pot goes and your model doesn't have that feature.
I suspect you will need to add your own 10K pot and change PD001 to '1' to make that work. If you do that, you'll have to add start and Stop switches as well because the VFD will ignore the front panel buttons.
I see the parameter definitions go all the way to PD183. At this point I'm guessing you don't have any beyond PD034 but you'll soon find out.
Good luck with it, don't give up.

Well, I finally got it working correctly from the keypad. This will work for now. However, I plan to later add a remote switch box with forward/reverse, speed pot, and emergency stop. I guess when that time comes, I will start over with programing. But this time I have a little more experience.

How to setup Chinese VFD to 2.2KW spindle.
Picture included, as well as PDF manual.
(I dont own the product, just figured this would help EVERYone else out that does!!)
PDF file is 15.8MB (large). It actually is very easy to read and navigate, i was impressed on how informational it is. Hope this helps someone!

3. I just tell you how to set up VFD as following
Firstly, adjust the PD013 to 8 (set the setting to factory setting)
Secondly, adjust the PD005 to 400
Thirdly, adjust the PD004 to 400
Finally, adjust the PD003 to 400
Finally, adjust the PD144 to 3000
Note: you should set PD013, PD005, PD004,PD003, PD144 in order. It mean you should firstly set PD013, then PD005, then PD004, then set PD003, finally set PD144.
Note: after you set the all above parameter, then please recheck the PD005, PD004, PD003 value is 400 or not to confirmed that you already set it. (note: please do not check the PD013, or all the setting will go to factory setting)
The reason we let you recheck is that if you do not set it at 400, then when you run the spindle motor, the spindle motor will be over-current, then the spindle will very hot and then within 5 minutes, it will broken.
