Wacom Technology Corp. has made available a beta driver that works with Mac OS X 10.1. The company manufactures a line of graphics tablets that utilize cordless pens and mice.

Wacom president Joe Deal said that his company is excited to support Mac OS X. 'The new Wacom driver will be posted as a beta driver and it will include an installer, driver and control panel,' said Deal.

Wacom noted that the driver is for Mac OS X 10.1 only -- 10.1 is being formally released this week, as noted yesterday during Phil Schiller and Steve Jobs' keynote address to Seybold Seminars attendees in San Francisco. The driver will not work on earlier versions of the operating system, according to Wacom. If you're a software engineer and you hope to incorporate support for Wacom drivers into your Mac OS X application, you can visit Wacom's Engineering Support Web site for details.

The new driver will support all Wacom USB tablets, and will be available for download free from Wacom's support pages.

Wacom also introduced new products this week, including the LCD-based Cintiq and the new Intuos2 line.

Hello everyone,

Recently I found my Wacom Tablet ( Wacom Voltio Model CTF-420/G ) again and wanted to do something with it on my iMac. Before I used it on a Windows 7 PC and it worked there without any Problems.

Now that I have a Mac to do my work I plugged it in and my Mac recognized it directly. The problem is it only recognized it as a mouse and not as a Tablet so I looked it up to find that there are no more drivers for my Tablet.

My question here is if anyone of you could help me out to get my Tablet working like it should be.

Wacom

Greetings, LuckystrikeFTW
